Naturally Timber’s Astragal display bookcases are built entirely from solid hardwood, with colonial-style glazing bars and glass display doors that protect your collection without hiding it.
Each furniture piece is made to order in our Auburn workshop, in the timber species and layout that suits your space. They’re made to show your collection properly, whether that’s books, ceramics, glassware or collectables.

What Makes Astragal Display Bookcases Different?
Where a standard bookcase leaves everything open to dust and handling, the Astragal uses glass display doors to keep pieces protected and visible at the same time.
Astragal Glazing Bars
An astragal is the slim, moulded timber bar that frames each pane of glass. Running across a door, these bars create the colonial, or Georgian, windowpane look that gives the bookcase its name and its classic character.
Glass Display Doors and Finger-Rebated Handles
Glass doors keep dust and handling off books, ceramics, and collectables while leaving them fully visible. Handles are finger-rebated directly into the door edge, with no external hardware to interrupt the line of the piece.

Five layouts are available, from a single-door compact unit to a four-door library wall. Each can be made in your chosen timber and adjusted to suit your room.

Every Astragal display bookcase is built from solid hardwood throughout, with five shelves as standard and a range of options to tailor the piece to your needs.

From your first enquiry through to delivery, the process typically takes around 8–12 weeks, depending on the design and production schedule.

We finalise the exact size required, ensuring the piece fits your room and layout.3
Select Timber
Select from nine hardwood species, with samples available if you would like to see them in person.4
Review Quote
Once you are happy with the design and quote (valid for 30 days), the piece is scheduled for production.5
Design Docs
We prepare drawings and 3D renders so you can check proportions, materials, and details before production begins.6
