The Breakfront is Naturally Timber’s most architectural bookcase, built in solid hardwood with a stepped profile that adds depth and presence to any study, living room, or home library.
The projecting centre section gives it a grand, traditional character that a flat wall of shelving simply can’t replicate. Each piece is made to order in our Auburn workshop, in the timber species and layout that suits your space.

What Makes the Breakfront Bookcase Different?
The Breakfront’s stepped profile sets it apart from every flat-fronted bookcase, creating a piece with visual weight and a classic library aesthetic that holds a room.
The Breakfront Profile
A breakfront bookcase is a piece whose central section projects forward of the sections on either side, breaking the flat front into three planes. That step forward is where the name comes from, and it’s what gives the bookcase its depth and its grand, library look rather than a flat wall of shelving.
Dual-Depth Construction
The Breakfront is built to two depths: shallower 330mm wings and a deeper 430mm centre. The depth difference is what creates the stepped profile, and it also makes the piece more practical, with the centre section offering more room for larger books, folios, or display objects.
