What Makes the Classic Open Bookcase Different?

The classic open bookcases is straightforward by design: solid hardwood shelving with full access to every shelf, built to your dimensions and finished with a traditional cornice and skirting that gives it a furniture-grade look rather than a built-in afterthought.

Open-Shelf Display

With no doors, every shelf is open and within reach, so books, ornaments and awards are easy to display, dust and restyle. The standard classic open bookcase design combines one fixed shelf for structure with four adjustable-height shelves, so you can set the spacing around paperbacks, large-format books or taller display pieces.

Modular Construction for Wide Spans

Wider builds stay straight and strong. A vertical divider is added at 1,500mm to brace the span, and units 2,000mm and wider are built as multiple 1,000mm sections, joined on site and finished with a single continuous cornice and skirting board so a whole wall reads as one piece.

Design Features and Construction

Every classic open bookcase is built from 100% solid hardwood, with traditional joinery, a cornice and skirting finish, and structural reinforcement on wider spans.

Our Timber Species

The classic open bookcases are available in nine hardwood species, each with its own colour range and grain character. Samples are available to view in person before you make your selection.
